Personal Trainer and ACE Industry Certification Prep

Personal Trainer and ACE Industry Certification Prep is designed to prepare students for the entry level positions in the field of Fitness and Personal Training.

Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical application, students will gain a thorough understanding of exercise science, anatomy, testing and training program design principles. The program covers essential topics such as client screening and assessment, exercise physiology, injury prevention, and safe and effective exercise programming for various populations.

Practical assignments will allow students to develop their physical skills. They will have the opportunity to conduct fitness assessments and design customized exercise programs with the guidance of experienced instructors. Additionally, students will learn effective communication strategies, professional ethics, and basic principles to prepare them for success in the dynamic field of fitness and personal training. Upon completion, graduates of this program will be well-equipped to sit for renowned personal training certification of ACE.

This certificate consists of three credit courses at UH Hilo - KES 212 (Anatomical Kinesiology), KES 308 ( Principles of Strength Training and Conditioning ), KES 312 ( Personal Trainer Certification Preparation), coordinated in partnership with UH Maui College for Good Jobs Hawaii funding.

Healthcare And Caregiver Services

CNA Recertification Course

This is preparation for for those who do have CNA status and need recertification before their 2 years is up, which is a 24hr Continuing Education Class. These classes would be geared towards HC partners needs such as re-education on fall prevention, Foley care, safely providing emotional and physical nursing care to those with dementia, etc. CNA are required to do 24hrs in service sessions or a competency class during the latter part of the 2 year period and then recertify, which is a $27 fee.

Certified Nurse Aide

Learn the fundamentals of health care giving techniques. Students gain knowledge and skills through both theory and practice in the classroom, nursing lab settings and actual clinical experiences at designated medical facilities. Upon successfully completing this course, students who meet eligibility requirements are prepared for the state Certified Nurse Aide examination. Participants also earn a First Aid/CPR certification.

Certified Nurse Aide to Practical Nurse bridge program TEAS Exam Prep course

The proctored TEAS® measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science and English. The test is intended for use primarily with adult nursing program applicant populations. Each question on the TEAS® test is mapped to 1 of 115 objectives, all of which address topics presented in grades 7 through 12. The objectives assessed are those which nurse educators deem most appropriate and relevant to measure entry-level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants.
